  • Wed Prayer Together – Canada Day

Our weekly prayer time together for this week will fall today on July 1st, Canada Day. Are we aware that we are truly blessed to live in this country of Canada? Our country was founded with the inspiration of Psalm 72:8, “He (God) shall have dominion from sea to sea.” On this Canada Day 2020, we will pause to pray that God will rule over us with His wisdom and grace. We can see when we look at history, or when we view the catastrophic decisions made in our present day, that there is such a need for God to guide us and to lead us. Only when we turn to God and ask him to have dominion from sea to sea, in this country where we are privileged to live, will we receive the blessing that comes as, “God keeps our land glorious and free.” Each of us has a part to carry out as people of faith, who stand on guard for this country that we are asking God to rule or have dominion over. With blessing comes responsibility and we do have responsibility as citizens of Canada to be true to our faith in God and to pass on our faith in God through His Son, Jesus Christ. Please use this prayer provided for our WEDNESDAY PRAYER TOGETHER today, Canada Day July 1st at 1 pm.

God bless us and keep us close to Him on Canada Day and every day, Pastor Lola

Our loving and generous God, we give our thanks to you that we live in this country of Canada. We do not take for granted the freedom we have to live our faith in You and to have Your principles guide our lives. We really do want You, LORD, to have dominion and to rule from sea to sea. We want You to rule in our hearts. We are praying today that You will continue to guide our leaders. We know that they face many challenges and we ask You to provide the wisdom that is needed for such a time as this. As our country is needing to find the way forward from here, decisions being made now are crucial. Thank You God that decisions made have seen our country begin to have a measure of control over the corona virus. We pray that we will be vigilant in this endeavour. We do pray for other countries where they are struggling and ask for them to be given wisdom and to use Your wisdom. LORD, our awareness of You and our dependence on You needs to extend past the circumstances of this pandemic. We pray that every day will be seen as a gift and an opportunity to invite Your kingdom to come and for Your will to be done. As You do rule in our hearts, we are asking that this will affect our neighbourhoods, our province, our country, and our world. Please use us as Your representatives to allow others to see Jesus in us. We come to You in humility because we know we are imperfect as Your representatives. Still You choose to change our country and our world through the faithful and persistent efforts of people like us. We pray that we will not give up doing the right thing. We pray that we will not give up doing the kind thing. We ask you to fill us with love for others that will move us beyond just considering what we think is best for us. We pray for all the ways that we have been affected by covid. We know that many people are tired of life being influenced by restrictions and limitations. Thank You that we do anticipate gathering together for worship this week. It will be different, but our love for You and our desire to hear from you will be the same. We ask that in all the places where churches are again gathering to worship that we will meet with You in meaningful ways. Our faith in You is a constant when everything else looks different. As You have guided us in the past, we ask you to guide us today and in the days ahead. You truly are our hope for years to come and we trust you to be our guide while this life lasts and our eternal home. God, please do keep our land as You intend and keep each of us as You want us to be. In the name of God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, AMEN.
