I want to begin by saying that it was wonderful to gather for our Outdoor Service of Worship this past Sunday, July 5th at Springford Baptist Church. We do praise God for our uplifting time together! We will be continuing to meet each Sunday morning at 10:30 am throughout the summer for Outdoor Services at Springford Baptist Church. Please bring your own chair and everyone is welcome to join us.
For this week’s Prayer Together, I am inspired by a Scripture from Philippians 4:19 “And my God shall supply all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus.” We have been living in a time when there have been several challenges around supplying various needs. Some items have been scarce or unavailable for periods of time. I have just returned home from a quest for what seemed a simple need, which was a watering can. Who would have known they would be sold out and unavailable? We can be so thankful that we turn to our God in prayer knowing that He is able to supply all our needs. God is enough! Yes, our God is enough. Whether we are praying about the needs of others or our own needs, God is a reliable Source. More than supplying our needs, God loves and cares for us when we come to Him. He responds to us and is able to provide what we need even if our understanding of that is limited. When we join for our Wednesday Prayer Together today Wednesday, July 8th at 1 pm, we can be at ease in God’s Presence and trust that He will supply all our needs in His time and His way.
Our God who delights in us and in answering our prayers, we have come to know You as One who can supply all our needs. Our day to day experiences involve disappointments with those we thought we could rely on and trust. Sometimes circumstances and the outcomes of those circumstances disappoint us. We want to renew our faith in You and we want to be reminded of all the times You have supplied our needs. This gift of prayer and being able to turn to You gives us strength with so much around us that is uncertain. We have been learning to recognize what we really need from a different perspective. God, we need more of You. We need to learn to walk more closely with You every day. We are trusting You to supply this need. We need Your Son Jesus to be our Saviour. We are trusting You to supply this need. God, our world has become so competitive and self-centred. We need You to set us free from the distortions of what You want us to be. We are trusting You to supply this need. God, we are finding it extremely difficult to make plans for the future with so many unknowns. We want You to guide us in all our decisions and priorities. We are trusting You to supply this need. God, we continue to be concerned for people we care about who have health concerns. We are trusting You to supply their needs. God, we are affected by the passing of those we love and all of us have times of grief and loss. We need to know Your comfort. We are trusting You to supply this need. We need to release yesterday so that we can embrace what You have for us in today. We are trusting You to meet this need. Going forward we are going to need courage and creativity. We need to guard against resistance to the new discoveries that You are inviting us into. We are trusting You to meet this need. God, we never find forgiveness easy. We need Your grace to forgive and to be forgiven. We are trusting You to supply this need. Thank You LORD that even before we ask, You are ready to supply these and all our needs according to Your glorious riches in Christ Jesus. Each day we want to commit ourselves and all to You in Jesus’ powerful Name, AMEN.
