  • Wed Prayer Together – Oct 5, 2022

Wasn’t the weather beautiful this past weekend? I heard several people exclaiming about how pleasant it was to be outdoors enjoying the best of the autumn season. Some people went to fall fairs and some people went apple picking. One of the activities I enjoyed participating in was an “Amazing Race” event that was organized by Aylmer Baptist Church. Teams were given clues and had various destinations to discover and various challenges to complete at each location. We actually began by driving to Port Bruce and had to find a particular park there. For those who were more familiar with the area, navigating was reasonably straightforward. I was thankful for those who assisted us in finding our way around and giving directions. That brings me to the reflection for this week leading up to Thanksgiving. God has given each of us people in our lives who consistently encourage us and help us to find our way. When we are in unfamiliar territory, there are those who care and pray for us and trust God to guide us. There are people in our lives who in a variety of ways encourage us to hold on to our faith in God. Consider the urging of Colossians 3:15,17; “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.””:For our WEDNESDAY PRAYER TOGETHER this week we will be thanking God for those whom we know we can depend on to care and to support us. We will also prayerfully consider who God wants us to accompany and pray for and love. Please plan to set aside time tomorrow October 5th at 1 pm to pray the prayer below as an expression of thanksgiving to God.

Thanking God that He has wisely given us those who pray for us and help us to trust God when we are uncertain about which way to turn, Pastor Lola

Our loving God, whatever is happening in each of our lives at this time, we still find reasons to thank you. Today we are grateful for the assurance that You hear our prayers as we turn to You. There are many blessings that we can count and we anticipate more yet to be given. In our prayers today we lift our thanks that we never walk this journey alone. You promise to be with us always and You provide people in our lives who remind us to lean on You. Thank You God for those who have recently accompanied us and supported us. Thank You for those who have been examples for us of people with persistent faith in Jesus. We need to see what it looks like to walk closely with You. Praise You for those who make that real for us. Thank You God for those we know we can reach out to when we need to find strength. We consider how our strength is renewed when we know that someone is praying for us. We pray that the peace of Christ will rule in our hearts since we are all members of one body, Your church. We want to be thankful for each other and to appreciate the unique gifts each one has to contribute to others growing in faith and knowledge of You. God we wonder how whatever we do in word or deed can be done in the name of our Lord Jesus. Our hearts are grateful that Jesus points the way for us to go when we get off of the path You have designed for us. Lord in our recognition of needing each other and being thankful for other believers who inspire us to keep seeking You, we too want to inspire others. We ask for attitudes of humility so that all of our words and actions will accurately reflect Jesus. We want to be reliable in praying for others and in empowering them by committing them to You. Our thanks is lifted up to You because we know that it is only through Your strength and Your grace that we can be faithful. Thank You God our Father for all that You provide through our availability to each other in sharing this journey of faith. In Jesus’ Name we pray. AMEN
