  • Wed Prayer Together – Sept 8, 2021

With the emphasis on “back to school” at this time of the year, it is an ideal opportunity for us to give thought to the possibility of being life long learners. What have you been learning and discovering recently? Have you gained insights that you hadn’t had before? Are there questions that you are pondering and wondering what the answers might be? A desire to learn is a wonderful thing. It means that life continues to stir and to motivate us every day. When we as Christians recognize that there is still so much for us to learn about God and our relationship with Him, we can be thankful for this gift of prayer that is such a key part of opening ourselves to the truth that God is prepared to show us. God has necessary things for us to learn about Him and about ourselves. Many of my conversations these days touch on a puzzlement over the way people are seeing things. The implications of people’s individual decisions are affecting all of us. Every one of us is having to learn how to live our lives with wisdom and with grace. God is our Teacher if we are willing to listen and to learn. Psalm 25:4,5 is a prayer from David and it is clear that he wants to keep on learning from God when he writes, “4Show me Your ways, Lord, teach me Your paths.Guide me in Your truth and teach me, for You are God my Saviour, and my hope is in You all day long.” Please plan to pause for our WEDNESDAY PRAYER TOGETHER today September 8 at 1 pm. We will echo the desire of David’s heart to have God teach us His paths. We will also pray for God’s blessing over all those returning to school.

Thanking God that He is our trusted Teacher, Pastor Lola

Our ever wise God thank You for this possibility You have given to us of being life long learners. We never want to assume or pretend that we do not have anything more to learn from You. We pray for humble hearts that are willing to look for You to show us Your ways and to teach us Your paths. In a world where certainty and truth can often seem in short supply, we maintain our confidence in You God as the Source of truth. We do want You to guide us in Your truth. When the details of life become confusing, please remind us that You are our faithful Guide and reliable Teacher. We ask You to prepare us to learn what You are prepared to teach us. Please guard us against disillusionment with the tone of many conversations we are having lately. Remind us that we can depend on You to be our constant Guide in searching for Your truth. We do not confine our prayers to ourselves. We see this as a time when we are compelled to look to You for guidance and to be taught by You. Please use us as You choose to open for others the door of learning from You. We are praying and continuing to pray for those returning to school. We life up to you students, parents, teachers, and staff. We pray for safety as this new school year begins. We pray for those who are anxious and not feeling entirely safe. The whole school experience is hard to navigate right now and we know that You understand this. Our prayer is for worthwhile learning to take place in the midst of all the challenges. Please build strength and confidence and resolve as only You can. As well as the regular school curriculum, we are trusting You to teach what it is to depend on You. There are multiple lessons that could be learned, but if the truth of You as our Saviour is missed, we have not gained the most important lesson. God, we thank you for the gift of learning and we want to always appreciate You as our Teacher. When we misunderstand or resist Your ways and Your paths, please redirect us. Our prayer is for this to be a positive season of learning both in school classrooms and in our hearts. You have shown us God that learning from You is much more than gaining knowledge. We want You to inspire us and to deepen our hope in you all day long whatever we are looking to You to guide us through. May the living of our lives of faith consistently inspire others to also learn from You and be taught and guided by You. Thank You that with “back to school”, we can keep coming back to You to learn and to grow more loke Jesus Your Son.. In His  Name, we pray. AMEN.
