  • Wednesday Prayer Time – June 10/20

Our need to pray together continues to be strongly apparent! Recently, I overheard a conversation between two people and the one was saying to the other, “This is too good a day to waste.” Each day, we have the gift of time that we can use to make a positive difference for God and His purposes. We do not want to waste time in any day that God gives. Scripture urges us, “…make the most of every opportunity.”(Colossians 4:5b) In order for us to choose thoughts and words and actions that will make the most of every day, we will need to approach each day prayerfully. We have all been realizing, during the restrictions of this pandemic, that we do not want to take life for granted. Choices that we make to bring blessing to the lives of others avoid wasting the day. Those who have broken silence and spoken out or demonstrated for respect and justice for all have decided not to waste the day. When we love with the love of Jesus, we are not wasting the day. Prayer is never intended to be the only thing we do. Prayer is placing every situation into God’s hands and then asking Him to use us for those prayers to be answered in the ways He knows are best. Prayer is a humbling experience because it causes us to realize how much we need God. Time spent in prayer also reminds us that we need to keep on having God reshape us to be the people He wants us to be as we willingly serve Him with the dawn of each new day we are given. Please join our prayer together tomorrow Wednesday June 10th at 1 pm and may God guide us to embrace and live the opportunities He is arranging for us day by day.

    Love & Prayers, Pastor Lola

Prayer: Our loving God, we pause to thank You for this gift of another new day. In these moments, we focus our attention on You and Your holy Presence. Living each day aware that You are with us, gives us purpose and gives our lives meaning. We are grateful for the meaning we have found in recent weeks as we have had to adapt to many changes and have needed to trust You to show us Your way. We are grateful that when we give of ourselves, others can experience Your love through us. Time is a precious gift and many circumstances keep reminding us that we do not want to waste the time we have been given. Forgive us, we pray, for the times we are reluctant to move into less familiar places to serve You. Forgive us for holding on to having our lives be comfortable and predictable. Forgive us for wasting time. We are asking You to show us how we can, with intention, make the most of every opportunity. We want to pray today for people who are feeling the weight of discouragement and despair. We pray for those who fear what another day will bring. We pray for those who are burdened by concerns in their families. We pray for our troubled world where we have been forced to recognize that there is still not justice and equal treatment for everyone. We pray for those who mourn that they will be comforted. We pray that You will turn hate to love through the power You alone possess. We ask God for wisdom as some restrictions from this pandemic are being lifted. We will need to move ahead will caution and compassion. Give us understanding when some people want to move more slowly than others. Help those who are finding the waiting and disruption so hard. As we consider our own needs and the needs of those around us, we ask You to inspire us to make the most of every opportunity. We want our faith to grow deeper. We want our love to grow stronger. Lord God, please release the potential in us for Your divine purposes as Your Spirit makes it possible for us to live each day for You. All praise to You, in Jesus’ Name, AMEN.
