Is it rare for us to offer a prayer where we are not asking God for something? God welcomes us as His children to come to Him with any and every concern that is in our hearts. For our prayer focus this week, I am going to suggest that we make this an exclusive time of recognizing what God has already done and thanking Him. We can be inspired to turn to God with praise by verses from Psalm 145:4-6, “ 3Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; His greatness no one can fathom. 4 One generation commends Your works to another; they tell of Your mighty acts. 5 They speak of the glorious splendor of Your majesty—and I will meditate on Your wonderful works. 6 They tell of the power of Your awesome works—and I will proclaim Your great deeds.” It is a tremendous faith booster when we make a point of considering all that makes our God most worthy of praise. What causes you to exclaim that our LORD is great? We do know that His greatness is beyond us fully knowing or understanding. God’s greatness is something that we cannot fully fathom. Stil, we sit where we are and reflect on our perception of God’s greatness. It will be the natural outpouring of our hearts that will be expressed when we pray and think of all the reasons we have to praise God for His greatness. Our faith will be expanded as we choose to meditate on God’s wonderful works. This intentional time of praise towards our God does not mean pretending that there is nothing that we need to bring to Him for answers. It simply means that in these moments of our WEDNESDAY PRAYER TOGETHR tomorrow June 22nd at 1 pm, we will be declaring that our God is truly great and greatly to be praised.
Praying for us to consider countless reasons to exclaim that God is great, Pastor Lola
O LORD our God, when we in awesome wonder consider all that You are and all that You have done, we have to exclaim honestly that You are great! Your power throughout the whole universe is displayed. Our choice today to declare Your greatness, does expand our faith in You. Even as we see flowers and crops in the field growing and flourishing, we want to see our faith grow and flourish. We know that this happens when we examine all the reasons that You are great. We think of one generation commending Your works to another and we want to participate in that. We can see that when we declare Your praise to the next generation that their faith can blossom and grow and we praise You for this reality. God thank You for smaller evidence of You moving to answer our prayers. Thank You also for Your mighty acts. When You bring about in mighty ways, what we know is not humanly possible, we are amazed. Nothing is too difficult for You and we remind ourselves of this truth right here and now. Our attention is drawn to You because of the many expressions of Your greatness around us everywhere. We see that love can triumph over hate because of You and we praise You. We have experienced Your brilliant light shining in the darkness and we praise You. When we have been so low, You have lifted us up and we praise You. Your ability to bring hope when there seemed to be no hope at all is another example that You are great. Your peace that passes understanding is further reason to conclude that You are great. Your mighty acts do speak of the glorious splendour of Your majesty. We want to meditate on your wonderful works because when we do, we are more and more consumed by Your greatness. Our trust in You is secure in One Who has the power to carry out awesome works. We want to spend our lives proclaiming Your great deeds. Even in this short time of prayer, our faith in You has increased and we thank You. We commit ourselves to keep on being those who proclaim how great You are and who find strength in You that can be widely shared and result in others also knowing You as a great and mercy filled God. We say again, from the depths of who we are, Great are you LORD and we pray in the strong Name of Jesus Your Son. AMEN.
