  • Wed Prayer Together – May 11, 2022

Please Note: Due to rising Covid cases currently and out of concern for everyone’s safety and well being, we will not be holding in person church at Springford Baptist Church for the next 2 Sundays: May 15 & 22. Online services will continue to be made available each week.

As I had shared in church on Sunday, I am looking forward to flying to Calgary for a few days this week to celebrate my brother’s 60th birthday. I am giving careful thought to what I will need to pack. My plan is to take only one carryon bag with me and a carrot cake with cream cheese frosting for my brother’s birthday. This will require careful consideration of what to pack in my one suitcase. When we are travelling, we try to anticipate what we will need during our time away. My brother has told me that they are currently having quite cool temperatures in the Calgary area so I will need to pack accordingly. It is impossible to know exactly what will be needed, but I will pack trying to accurately figure out what I will need. There is a verse of Scripture that many of us find reassuring. In Philippians 4:13 we read, My God will supply all of your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus.”  Our prayers become our affirmation that we are trusting God to know what we need and to supply what we need. Prayer is not meant to be us trying to convince God to give us what we are convinced we need. Prayer is being convinced that God knows our needs and thanking Him for how He has provided and will provide what we need. Our prayers can invite God to be God in supplying our needs as He knows best. This will be the focus of our WEDNESDAY PRAYER TOGETHER today May 11th at 1 pm.

Thanking God that He knows and supplies our needs in His way and in His time, Pastor Lola

Our loving God You know us completely. You are well aware of what we have been praying over and what we think we need. Please provide for us a trust in You to arrange what we need when we need it. Please guard us against continuing to build up heaps of requests in prayer while rarely acknowledging what You have provided. Please forgive us for being resentful when our prayers do not result in the answers we wanted. In these moments, we center our thoughts in how much you love and care for us. You God know the concern we experience around the continued spread of COVID. You have heard our prayers for those who are sick. You have heard our prayers for those who are having treatments. We know that you have been hearing the prayers that we have prayed for those who are experiencing loss and grief. You have heard our personal prayers of need in all of these areas. We pray that we truly will release every need to You in prayer. When we become anxious even while praying as to how You will answer our prayers and our needs, we are asking that You will deepen our trust in You. We know that You are a powerful God Who does have the capacity to supply all of our needs. We know for certain that You love us and will not withhold what we need. Remind us to bring every need to You instead of trying to arrange the answers ourselves. And God please expand our vision to see and to care about the needs of others. We want to see what others need and we want to be available for how You will supply those needs through us. Where someone needs compassion, we pray that we will be available to supply that need. Where someone needs hope, please show us how to offer Your hope in meaningful ways. Where someone needs practical assistance and support, equip us or give us information around how You can meet that need using us. Thank You God for the resource of Your glorious riches in Christ Jesus. We have seen our needs and the needs of others met before and we invite that happening again today. And if today is not the day for that answer to be given, please give us patient trust in You until Your answer to our needs is supplied. We pray for a consistent pattern in our lives of bringing our needs to You in prayer. We want to live each day depending on You and actively sharing with others that they too can know You and can depend on You. In the Name of Christ Jesus our Lord. AMEN.
